Name change for University of Idaho College of Education

From staff reports

The University of Idaho’s College of Education has changed its name to the College of Education, Heath and Human Sciences.

The state Board of Education and the university’s leadership has approved the new name, which reflects a broader mission than training teachers, officials said.

That mission includes movement sciences, athletic training, tourism, dance, recreation, exercise science, counseling, rehabilitation and community health.

“For nearly 100 years the college has served Idaho through education, but that is just one facet of its contributions,” UI President Chuck Staben said. “The name change will better reflect the impact this college has in many different areas of endeavor.”

The college serves more than 1,000 students each year in six bachelor’s degree programs, nine master’s degree programs and three doctorate programs.
