Dennis Erickson inducted into Washington State Hall of Fame

PULLMAN – Almost 30 years after guiding Washington State to a nine-win season, former coach Dennis Erickson is being inducted into the State of Washington Sports Hall of Fame.

Erickson will be honored prior to tonight’s game against Montana State – fitting because the longtime coach has ties to both schools. Erickson coached WSU in 1987 and 1988. Twenty years earlier, he played quarterback at MSU under Jim Sweeney, earning all-conference honors in the Big Sky. He’d then spend four years as a graduate assistant/assistant in Bozeman.

Erickson recently called it quits after 47 years as a coach. In addition to WSU, he was a head coach at six other schools – Miami, Oregon State, Arizona State, Idaho and Wyoming.

Joining Erickson in the 2017 Hall of Fame class are Mike Holmgren, Kasey Keller, Debbie Armstrong, Byron Beck, Gary Wright, Curt Warner and Joe Steele.
