Bruce Katz will speak at this year’s Greater Spokane Incorporated Annual Meeting later this month.

Katz, with the Brookings Institution, is a global urbanist whose ideas focus on developing new models of finance, growth and governance in cities and nations. Katz heads the Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Initiative on Innovation and Placemaking, a collaboration with the New York-based Project for Public Spaces focused on city building. He also helps lead Brookings Project on 21st Century City Governance.

Before joining the think tank, Katz served as chief of staff to Housing and Urban Development Secretary Henry Cisneros and was senior counsel and staff director for the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on Housing and Urban Affairs. In 2008, he led the housing and urban issues transition team for the Obama administration.

The GSI event is Sept. 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Spokane Convention Center, and is open to the general public. More information can be found and tickets purchased at GreaterSpokane.org/events/2707.
