Children find human remains in Coeur d’Alene rock quarry

Two kids exploring a rock quarry behind Central Pre-Mix in Coeur d’Alene discovered bones and some clothing last weekend.

Detective Jared Reneau said the Coeur d’Alene Police Department was contacted Sunday about the discovery in the quarry, located near 847 W. Kathleen Ave. Police responded to the scene and the children were able to lead officers to the vicinity of where they discovered the remains.

Patrol officers secured the location while detectives began their investigation. The detectives determined the remains appear to be human and had been in the quarry for “a significant amount of time.”

There is no information available about the identity of the remains or the cause of death.
