Cross country: UPDATED: No. 3 Lewis and Clark girls upset by North Central

Lewis and Clark boys defeated Mt. Spokane and North Central in a Greater Spokane League meet at Siemers Farm on Wednesday.

Marcus Taylor from North Central took first in the boys event at 15:28, followed by Wil Smith from Lewis and Clark in second (15:32) and Mohamed Ahmed from North Central in third (15:39).

In the girls event, No. 3-ranked Lewis and Clark defeated Mt. Spokane (15-48) but the 2016 undefeated 4A league champs were upset by unranked North Central 28-29.

Katie Thronson from Lewis and Clark took first in the girls event at 18:07, followed by twins Erinn (18:40) and Mia Hill (18:43) from North Central.

Mead, University and Ferris: The Mead boys varsity team and University girls varsity team each took first place in team scoring in a Greater Spokane League meet at Comstock Park. Jacob Easton from University took first place in the boy’s varsity event with 15:58.07, followed by Benjamin Cikutovich from Mead and Dadniel Jarvis from Mead. In the girl’s varsity event, Rebecca Lehman from University led with 18:33.71, followed by Claire Dingus from University and Halle Caviness from Ferris.

Gonzaga Prep, Central Valley, Rogers and Shadle Park: Both the Central Valley boys and girls varsity teams took first place in a Greater Spokane League meet at Finch Arboretum. Turlan Morlan from Gonzaga Prep took first in the boys event with 16:32, followed by Ryan Kline from Central Valley and Evan Peters from Central Valley. Leah Carney from Gonzaga Prep took first place in the girls event with 21:22 followed by Natalie Schwartzenberger from Gonzaga Prep and Olivia Sine From Central Valley.

West Valley at Pullman: Pullman boys varsity defeated West Valley 26-29 and West Valley girls varsity defeated Pullman 22-36 in a dual Great Northern League meet. Eliason Kabasenche from Pullman took first in the boys event with 17:08, followed by Kolby Green from West Valley and Patrick Nirimo from Pullman. Annika Esvelt from West Valley took first in the girls event with 21:16, followed by Jenna Herzog from Pullman and Emma Garza from West Valley.

East Valley at Clarkston: Both East Valley girls and boys varsity teams defeated Clarkston in a dual Great Northern League meet. Hunter Reynolds from East Valley took first in the boys portion with 16:34.32, followed by Daniel Lee from East Valley and Mason Best from Clarkston. Elizabeth Smythe from East Valley took first in the girls portion with 21:46.11, followed by Madeline Bunce from Clarkston and Mackenzie Allen from East Valley.
