The Excelsior Youth Center in North Spokane has opened a clothing room at its facility called Threads.

The center is collaborating with the J.C. Penny store at NorthTown, which washed the donated clothing and provided hangers and clothing racks.

The clothing is available for Excelsior clients and foster youth. Excelsior CEO Andrew Hill said in a news release that many of his center’s clients arrive carrying everything they own in a black trash bag.

“This in no way represents who they are,” he said.

The center is still accepting clothing donations. Needed items right now include sweat pants, sweat shirts and large size clothing. Donations can be dropped off at 3754 W. Indian Trail Road.
