UPDATED: Wed., Sept. 13, 2017, 4:49 p.m.

Two Priest River teens were shot at while fishing near Priest River Tuesday and one was wounded in the leg as they fled the area, according to the Bonner County Sheriff’s Office.

The teens had permission to fish at a spot on the Priest River near Settlement Road. As they fished, two men on the other side of river began shooting at them. The two could hear bullets hitting the moped they rode to the location, the Sheriff’s Office said.

After the shooting appeared to stop the teens got on the moped and drove away. The shooting resumed and one teen was wounded in the leg. He was treated and released from the Newport Hospital.

Deputies interviewed and arrested Eric R. Wood, 52, and Leo Inwood. Wood admitted to deputies that he had been the one doing the shooting, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Wood was booked into the Bonner County Jail on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm, injuring another by careless discharge and malicious injury to property. Inwood was booked on a firearm charge.
