Mark your calendars: Farm to Food Expo is Nov. 3 and 4 at Spokane Community College

Online registration is open for the Farm to Food Expo, which takes place Nov. 3 and 4 at Spokane Community College.

The event offers more than 75 workshops geared toward gardeners, small-acreage farmers and foodies.

Look for sessions on passing down the family farm, managing noxious weeds, baking bread, keeping chickens, growing mushrooms, cheese making, canning, beekeeping, disaster preparedness for the farm, and making apple cider vinegar, kim chi and kombucha.

Tickets include the Friday roundtable as well as six Saturday classes. They’re $100 per person in advance or $125 at the door. There are discounts for veterans, students and “junior farmers.”

Two courses can be added on for another $50. They are a three-and-a-half-hour workshop from Jean-Martin Fortier and a three-hour workshop from Curtis Stone.

Child care is available Saturday for $10 per child. SCC is at 1810 N. Greene St. The expo is sponsored by the Spokane Conservation District. Call (509) 535-07274. Register online at http://sccd.org/departments/small-acreage/farm-food-expo.
