One of two suspected purse snatchers still being sought after Freeman shooting

One of two women suspected of stealing a purse from a Freeman parent during last week’s shooting at Freeman High School appeared in court Tuesday.

Nicole D. Jensen, 33, is being held on $50,000 bond for multiple counts of identity theft, forgery, theft and possession of stolen property.

The stolen purse had been left in a vehicle that was parked on Highway 27 as the victim and other parents rushed to pick up their children. Among the items in the purse were several credit cards and personal checks written for a total of $36,000.

Jensen told investigators that she was near Freeman High School the morning of the theft, but said she was accompanied by another woman. Jensen said the other woman owed her money and gave her two credit cards, which she assumed was her way of paying back the debt, according to court documents.

Jensen said she didn’t know the cards had been stolen from the Freeman parent until after she ran up hundreds of dollars in charges at Wal-Mart and Fred Meyer locations in Spokane. She turned over several items she had purchased with the stolen cards, court documents state.

Investigators are still searching for the second woman suspected of being involved in the theft.
