Psychiatric ‘dangerous’ patient escapes transit

Associated Press

PORTLAND – Law enforcement officials are asking for help locating a 22-year-old man who escaped custody while being transported from a mental health facility.

According to Oregon State Police, Rodrick Edminston escaped from a rest stop about 20 miles south of Maupin in Wasco County. It’s unclear how Edminston got away, but he was not restrained while being transported.

Lifeways Inc., the mental health facility, has classified Edminston as “dangerous” and had been holding him on a mental health hold.

Police say Edminston has been diagnosed with schizophrenia. No criminal charges are pending against him.

Edminston is described as being a Native American male adult, 5’8”, 123 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a red shirt, shorts and red tennis shoes.
