A Grant County sheriff’s deputy was injured in a four-car crash north of Moses Lake on Monday morning.

The crash occurred around 9:15 a.m. on state Highway 17 about a mile north of Moses Lake, according to a Washington State Patrol news release.

Three cars were stopped at a construction zone when Chief Deputy Darrick Greg, 43, heading north in a patrol vehicle, struck William Wilkinson, 69, who was driving a Ford pickup. The momentum pushed Wilkinson into Roxanne Cates, 29, in a Honda sedan, and subsequently pushed Cates into Adrian Diaz, also 29, driving a Chevy pickup.

Greg was the only driver who was injured, troopers said. He was transported by ambulance to Samaritan Healthcare in Moses Lake. Kyle Foreman, spokesman for the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, said Greg was treated and released Monday and is recovering at home.

A cause of the crash has not been determined, troopers said Tuesday.

Highway 17 was blocked for several hours while troopers processed the scene.
