11-year-old boy approached by ‘suspicious male’ in a van near Landings Park in Coeur d’Alene

UPDATED: Thu., April 12, 2018, 1:37 p.m.

An 11-year-old boy says he was approached by a suspicious man in a van near Landings Park Wednesday afternoon.

The boy called 911, and at about 4:35 p.m., Coeur d’Alene Police Officers responded to the park, where they were told a man in a green cargo van stopped and said “Come here. I have something for you,” according to a police news release. The boy said he had just gotten dropped off from his school bus and was walking home.

The 11-year-old “immediately turned and ran away,” police said.

The man is described as a white male, between 30 and 40 years old, standing at about 5-foot-8-inches tall, with a medium build, mid-length brown hair, a brown mustache and a strip of brown hair on his chin.

Police said the van had dark tinted windows on the front driver and passenger doors, and two doors on the back of the van. There were no windows on the rear side of the vehicle.

The van had Idaho license plates of the Idaho Wildlife Bluebird.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coeur d’Alene Police Department at (208) 769-2320.
