Gonzaga suffers another one-run loss in West Coast Conference baseball opener at Pacific

STOCKTON, Calif. – Keaton Glover’s two-run single in the second inning Friday provided all the offense Pacific (14-18, 5-8) needed for a 2-1 win over Gonzaga (16-16, 7-6) to open a three-game West Coast Conference baseball series.

Zags starter Daniel Bies (3-3) sandwiched two walks around a hit batter before Glover’s crucial hit.

Bies pitched a complete game, allowing five hits, striking out five and walking three.

Winning pitcher Shelby Lackey (3-3) allowed four hits and one earned run over six innings, striking out eight.

The Bulldogs scored in the third on Branson Trube’s sacrifice fly.

Leadoff hitter Ernie Yake had two of the Zags’ five hits.

GU has seven one-run losses this season.
