As the National Parks Service moves forward with plans to rebuild the historic Sperry Chalet, the public is asked to comment on the environmental assessment and ask questions about the restoration project.

The National Park Service has proposed rebuilding the chalet, which burned in the 2017 Sprague Fire, according to a National Park Service news release.

Comments are due May 7. The plan is available online at parkplanning.nps.gov/SperryChalet2018.

A public meeting will be held on Monday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Kalispell.

The National Park Service hopes to make the new building as close to the original as possible.

“The visitor experience would be very similar to what it has been for decades by using as much of the remaining historic fabric, and replicating historic finishes where practicable,” according to the news release.
