Coeur d’Alene man who died after vehicle collision succumbed to medical condition, not injuries from crash

From staff reports

Idaho State Police said a man who died following a two-vehicle collision at a busy Coeur d’Alene intersection last week succumbed to an unrelated medical isssue.

Casey Mitchell, 22, was a passenger in his mother’s SUV on April 15 when she ran a red light and struck a pickup truck at Ramsey Road and Golf Course Road just after 8 p.m., according to the ISP.

Annette Mitchell, 49, had been transporting her son because of an unspecified medical emergency, according to the ISP. Neither was wearing a seat belt.

The Mitchells, along with the driver of the pickup truck, David Delgado, 50, were transported to Kootenai Health, where Casey Mitchell died April 17.

ISP made a clarification Tuesday noting Casey Mitchell died due to the medical issue and not because of the crash.
