Letter: Articles on ‘Nana’s garden,’ ‘Shifting gears’ wonderful stories

Hello,

I just finished reading “Things in Nana’s Garden” and “Shifting Gears” (Stories by Cindy Hval, Aug. 2 in Voice sections).

I really enjoyed reading about the little 10-year-old boy and his gardening with Gramma. How nice that was.

And the story about the guy going to school to get his GED at the age of 61 is really neat. I went to Spokane Community College when I was in my early 40s. I was almost the oldest one in all the classes I took. I did it for myself. I felt so good about my two-year degree. I know how he feels, and I am very proud of him. (I don’t know him).

Thank you for all the very wonderful stories you (Hval) have written.

Shirley Kneff,
