Clearwater Paper sells Wisconsin plant for $72 million

From staff reports

Clearwater Paper Corp. has sold a plant in Wisconsin that makes recycled paper for $72 million.

The Spokane-based company on Tuesday announced the sale of the Ladysmith facility to Dunn Paper Inc.

Clearwater Paper’s strategy is to focus its tissue production on the growing demand for high-quality products, and the Ladysmith facility didn’t meet that niche, said Linda K. Massman, the company’s president and chief executive officer.

The company will use the proceeds from the sale to expand its Shelby, North Carolina, facility and pay down debt, Massman said.
