Konis: Right man, right time

Tom Konis is running for Spokane County assessor. He grew up here, graduating from Cheney High. He has worked at the assessor’s office for over 24 years and has the endorsement of every employee of that office. He is happily married and a grandfather. Tom is genuine, caring and fair.

Now, with the assessor’s office running well even though understaffed, is the time to continue the great accomplishments of Vicki Horton, who has also endorsed Tom to replace her. As a retired 15-year member of the Board of Equalization, I can vouch for the fact that the work product coming from the assessor’s office is the best it has been since I came on board in 2000. The office isn’t “broken,” nor does it need “breaking.” It needs more staffing and funding.

The assessor is required to lead a group of highly motivated people, who are in danger of burnout due to overwork, stress and pressure from others in county government. By law, the assessor cannot influence anyone so that property taxes are lower.

Tom Konis is the right man, at the right time for the job of Spokane County assessor.
