Idaho’s Kelly Dopke earns Google Cloud Academic All-America first-team honors

UPDATED: Thu., Dec. 6, 2018, 10:39 p.m.

Kelly Dopke’s women’s soccer career is over, but the Idaho senior keeps gaining awards, including Google Cloud Academic All-America first-team honors, as announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Dopke is the third Vandals female to earn the distinction, following in the footsteps of Mikayla Ferenz (women’s basketball) last season and Hannah Kiser (track and field) in 2014. She is the second Vandals soccer player to be recognized, after Chelsea Small earned second-team honors in 2010 and 2012.

Dopke is the fifth Big Sky Conference soccer player to earn first-team honors, the first since Kristi Andreassen of Northern Arizona in 2010.

Dopke boasts a 4.0 grade-point average in Medical Sciences and intends to pursue medical school after graduation. She was named a Google Cloud All-District first-team selection last month.

Dopke was also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region second team, becoming the fourth Vandal recognized by the coaches’ association.

The Vandals finished 9-7-3 overall and 6-1-2 in conference play this season to earn the No. 2 seed in the Big Sky Tournament. Dopke was named Defensive Most Valuable Player and earned All-Big Sky first-team honors. She was recognized as a member of the all-tournament team.

The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada.
