GSL boys: Liam Lloyd’s 23 points leads Gonzaga Prep over Modesto Christian (Calif.) 79-63

Liam Lloyd scored 23 points and Gonzaga Prep beat Modesto (California) Christian 79-63 in the first round of the Hoophall West Invitational in Scottsdale, Arizona on Friday.

Anton Watson scored 14 points, Jacob Parola added 11 and Carter Sonneborn and Shaedon Byrd added 10 points apiece for the Bullpups (2-0).

Michael Pearson led Modesto Christian with 17 points.

Gonzaga Prep faces Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) on Saturday on the second day of the national tournament.

Ferris 50, Wenatchee 40: Reece Van Lierop scored 14 points and the Saxons (4-1) beat the visiting Panthers (2-1). Eight of Ferris’ 15 made field goals were 3-pointers.

Central Valley 59, Eisenhower 52: Jayce Simmons and Josh Wilson, who both finished with 15 points, hit two sets of clutch free throws and the Bears (3-0) beat the Cadets (1-3). Central Valley led by as many as 21 points in the game before allowing Eisenhower to creep within 3 late in the game.

University 68, Moses Lake 64: Logan Dreher scored 21 points and the visiting Titans (4-0) beat the Chiefs (1-3). Michael Byers led Moses Lake with 18 points.

Mt. Spokane 69, Post Falls 57: Jerry Twenge scored 22 points and the visiting Wildcats (4-1) defeated the Trojans (1-2). Kelly Homing scored 12 points for Post Falls.

Eastmont 57, Mead 55: Isaac Wellborn scored 20 points and the Wildcats (2-0) defeated the visiting Panthers (0-2). Josh Allen and Tyson Rogalette scored 10 points apiece for Mead.

Coeur d’Alene 55, North Central 44: Connor King had 15 points with five 3s and the Vikings (2-2) beat the visiting Indians (1-3). Leon Sayers had 15 points to lead North Central.
