The Fake News cult

Trump says the press is the “enemy of the people” yet he constantly makes appearances on Fox News. He has even hired many individuals from Fox News to work in his administration.

This fact would suggest that only the press that the president disagrees with is the “enemy of the people.” This fact might also further suggest that the term “fake news” only applies to those news organizations that report news that Trump deems to classify as such.

Many of his supporters, both private and public, have chosen to accept Trump’s declarations as gospel truth. Those of his supporters who are in public office or are running for public office do it for personal and political gain. The general public who continue to support Trump have chosen to become part of a cult, no different than the followers of Jim Jones. It is the “People’s Temple,” worshiping at the altar of Fox News and other similar “conservative” media. Their common bond is not the truth but a belief in a “savior” who has been empowered by the belief that he could literally shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and not lose one supporter.
