Owning our beliefs

I’d like to express my thanks to Robert Archer for his article “Time to own your beliefs” (Dec. 9, 2018). I have felt the same way and was so happy to read his excellent article. I would add Exodus 20:12, “Thou shalt not commit adultery.” We have a president that has committed adultery with all three of his wives.

Leviticus 19:11, “Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another.” We have a president who seems to have no relationship with the truth. Fact checking shows that 70 percent of what he says is not true. Also, it appears he was involved in deceiving the A,American people by paying hush money to two women with whom he had affairs while married to his current wife, which should be a concern to his evangelical Christian base, but apparently is not.

Every time I have heard a Trump supporter state why they support him, it always pertains to money. They say he is a good businessman. Apparently, it is of no concern that his “good business” model is to file bankruptcy and then pay the contractors 10 cents on the dollar. Jesus was clear on that issue. Luke 16:13, “No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”
