Area women’s basketball: Northwest Nazarene uses balanced attack to rout Whitworth

Erin Jenkins scored 18 points, Carly Parker added 17 and Northwest Nazarene routed Whitworth 103-68 Tuesday in nonconference play in Nampa, Idaho.

Marina Valles added 14 points and six assists for the Nighthawks (10-0), who had seven players score in double figures.

Northwest Nazarene, ranked seventh in the WBCA Division II poll, started the game on a 14-0 run.

Whitworth closed within 29-20 in the second quarter, but the hosts used a 17-2 surge to lead 54-30 at the half.

The Nighthawks scored 50 points off 32 Whitworth turnovers and shot 55.6 percent (40 of 72) from the floor.

Camy Aguinaldo had 20 points and eight rebounds for the Pirates (6-3), who return Dec. 29 against William Smith in the Regals Classic in Thousand Oaks, California.

North Idaho 64, Bellevue 49: Heidi Sellman tallied 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Cardinals over the Bulldogs at the North Idaho Crossover in Coeur d’Alene.

Alex Carlton chipped in 14 points and Halle Eborall scored 13 for NIC (7-2). The Cardinals notched 16 steals, with Anna Schrade and Zosha Krupa grabbing five each.

Amanda Luckett totaled 12 points and 14 rebounds for Bellevue (3-5), while Jahdai Alcombrack also scored 12.

NIC will play against Centralia in the Lower Columbia Holiday Classic on Dec. 27.
