Gonzaga-UT Arlington: 3 keys to the Bulldogs’ 89-55 victory over the Mavericks

Key moment

Gonzaga’s 20-point lead was down to nine when Rui Hachimura dunked while being fouled, posted up for a layup, checked a UTA shot and scored another layup in traffic. Brandon Clarke added the last five points as GU took a 48-30 halftime lead.

Offensive MVP

Hachimura timed most of his 20 points in a pair of runs that Gonzaga used to open up a comfortable lead. The 6-foot-8 forward made 8 of 11 shots and 4 of 5 free throws. He also had two assists and 11 rebounds.

Defensive MVP

The Mavericks didn’t have much of a post presence, allowing Clarke to help out on drivers. The San Jose State transfer had three blocks and influenced a couple of other shots off target. Clarke also collected 13 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season.
