Woman arrested for allegedly attacking boyfriend with broken kitchen knife

Police arrested a woman Tuesday evening accused of stabbing a man with a broken kitchen knife inside their north Spokane home.

Officers were called to the residence near Sinto Avenue and Ruby Street at about 10:15 p.m. after the man reported he was attacked by his girlfriend, 37-year-old Heather Fourstar, according to a news release.

The man said Fourstar armed herself with a kitchen knife after an argument and lunged at him, but he was able to snap the blade in half. After he let go, however, officers say she stabbed him with the broken blade.

Afterward, Fourstar apparently locked herself in the home with four small children and refused to come out. Once police had a search warrant, they entered the home and arrested the woman under suspicion of second-degree assault.

The children were not harmed.
