Gonzaga’s Brandon Clarke, Rui Hachimura make Robertson midseason watch list

Gonzaga’s Brandon Clarke and Rui Hachimura are among 20 players on the Oscar Robertson Trophy midseason watch list.

The trophy will be presented to the player of the year at the Final Four in Minneapolis.

Clarke, a transfer from San Jose State, averages 16.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.25 blocks. The junior forward ranks third nationally with 39 blocks, and he’s seventh in field-goal percentage at 69.5.

Hachimura leads Gonzaga in scoring at 21.6 points per game. His scoring average is the highest at GU since Adam Morrison’s 28.1 in 2006. The junior forward from Toyama, Japan, is third in the West Coast Conference in scoring. He was voted most outstanding player of the Maui Invitational.

Clarke and Hachimura have scored in double figures in every game this season. Clarke has a team-leading five double-doubles.

Two other schools have a pair of players on the watch list: Duke’s Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett and Nevada’s Jordan Caroline and Caleb Martin.
