Church shirking accountability

Historically, when the Catholic Church learns about guilt and complicity with regard to pedophile priests, they prefer to relocate and even promote those involved in an effort to make the problem go away.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the two priests who resigned from Gonzaga will be made monsignors and sent to live out their lives in the lap of luxury in Rome, so they can take their secrets to their graves, a la Cardinal Bernard Law and many others.

I look forward to the day when the Catholic Church takes 100 percent accountability for the unforgivable anguish they’ve inflicted upon thousands of victims. They don’t need more fake and meaningless apologies that only happen when compelled by a settlement or a new lawsuit.
