Girls basketball: Makayla Geiger and Jayda Noble help Medical Lake finish undefeated

Makayla Geiger and Jayda Noble scored 16 points apiece and Medical Lake (18-0, 14-0), ranked No. 5 in Class 1A in WIAA’s RPI system, beat visiting Colville (7-13, 4-10) 55-23 in the Northeast A League regular season finale on Thursday.

Medical Lake earned the top seed in the district tournament, which starts Wednesday.

Lakeside 73, Newport 40: Sienna Swannack scored 27 points and the No. 8 Eagles (15-5, 12-2) defeated the visiting Grizzlies (10-10, 6-8). Lakeside earned the No. 2 seed in the district tournament. Jocelin Nenema paced Newport with 15 points.

Freeman 63, Chewelah 36: Grace Holt scored 13 points and the visiting Scotties (11-8, 9-5) defeated the Cougars (10-8, 6-8). Freeman finished third in the league. Krislyn Koler led Chewelah with 13 points.

Riverside 40, Deer Park 30: Brittney Nortz scored 12 points and the visiting Rams (6-15, 2-12) beat the Stags (7-13, 3-11). Taylor Lyons led Deer Park with 11 points.

Idaho

Sandpoint 62, Moscow 56: Trinity Golder scored 17 points and the Bulldogs (12-6, 4-0) beat the visiting Bears (6-10, 2-2) to decide the 4A Inland Empire League regular season champion. Gracey Meyer led Moscow with 22 points.

Priest River 40, North Idaho Christian 24: Shayla Martinez scored 19 points and the Spartans (3-17) defeated the Royals (17-7) in a nonleague game. Mary Schlader paced North Idaho Christian with 12 points.
