Final SpIFF film honors climber Fred Beckey

CLIMBING – The Spokane International Film Festival’s final film will be the documentary “Dirtbag: The Legend of Fred Beckey.”

Beckey, a legendary Seattle-area mountaineer, died in October. The climber wrote dozens of books and is credited with notching more first ascents than any other American mountaineer.

Director Dave O’Leske followed Beckey as he tried to climb one final peak.

The film will play at the Bing on Feb. 9 at 7:30 pm.
