Spellman’s GOP long gone

John Spellman just died. The last Republican l actually voted for.

Sadly, his GOP is now morally adrift, unable to do anything but start unfunded wars, cut budget-busting tax breaks for billionaires, destroy the banking system, suppress voting by minorities and now play politics with the health and welfare of children. With the elevation of an inveterate liar, draft dodger, admitted adulterer and alleged sexual predator to the leadership of her party, Cathy McMorris Rodgers has become as shameless as the rest of this new plutocracy.

CMR and her Freedom Caucus buddies have destroyed the GOP. Now, with Donald Trump and his crony Cabinet at the wheel, they are proceeding to destroy the entire government.

CMR doesn’t seem to get it. Her party is destroying the security and futures of millions of citizens, including her constituents. This is why she gets booed at public events. She earned this lack of civility. She bought it with her hostile approach to governance.

John Spellman never supported the current GOP campaign to infuse incompetence and amorality into every institution of government. He was a public servant with a lot of class. He would have no home in this GOP.
