NHRA’s Brittany Force released from hospital following crash

POMONA, Calif. – Brittany Force has been released from the hospital after a precautionary overnight stay following a wall-banging crash in the NHRA season opener.

John Force Racing says in a statement she “shows no lingering effects from injury except for some upper-body soreness.” She returned home Monday, where she will continue to recuperate.

The 31-year-old Top Fuel driver is the daughter of Funny Car great John Force . She sustained no major internal injuries when she lost control of her dragster at the Lucas Oil NHRA Winternationals and hit both retaining walls.

The 2017 class champion was racing in the first round of eliminations when her dragster veered right just off the start, shot the other direction and slammed into the left wall. It spun with the tangled parachute catching the nose and hit backward into the right wall, flipping on its side. It ended up back on what was left of the wheels when it finally skidded to a stop.
