New thoughts on new bridge

Mr. Pelloux wrote a letter (“U-District bridge name,” Jan. 27) that I would have totally agreed with a few months ago. In essence, he thought that the new bridge to nowhere was in the wrong place, nobody will use it, because there is no foot traffic in, um, nowhereville.

My small business has a client where the south end of the bridge will end up, and I can tell you that it is about impossible to find a parking spot in that area now. I asked my client where all the cars came from, and the answer was they were from all the students and workers in the new University District. There appears to be very little parking there, so they head south.

I don’t know if this will help businesses in this area - probably will hurt them because nobody can park there anymore - but at least the bridge might be used for a while in the morning, and for a while in the afternoon.
