Boys basketball: Maguire Isaak leads Almira/Coulee-Hartline to district title

Maguire Isaak hit the winning layup with 4 seconds left and Almira/Coulee-Hartline (18-5) beat Wellpinit (16-7) 58-57 in the District 7 1B title game at Deer Park HS on Friday.

Wellpinit plays Odessa in a loser-out for second place on Saturday. Isaak finished with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Butch Flett scored 33 points for Wellpinit.

Odessa 76, Cusick 40: Ryan Moffet scored 35 points on eight 3-pointers and the Tigers (21-3) eliminated the Panthers (16-7). Colton Seymour led Cusick with 12 points. Odessa drained 14 3-pointers.

District 9 1B

Pomeroy 59, Garfield-Palouse 33: Jake Tewalt scored 17 points and the Pirates (20-2) defeated the Vikings (16-6) for the district title at Walla Walla CC. Gar-Pal faces Colton in a loser-out for second place on Saturday. Ely Hawkins and Austin Jones led Gar-Pal with eight points apiece.

Colton 49, Touchet 42: Reece Chadwick and Matt Wolf scored 16 points apiece and Wildcats (7-14) eliminated the Indians (10-10). Amin Acevedo hit three 3-pointers and scored 11 points for Touchet.

Idaho

Post Falls 61, Lake City 52: Colby Gennett scored 18 points and the Trojans (17-4) defeated the visiting Timberwolves (11-11) in the first round of the 5A District 1-2 tournament.

Post Falls hosts Coeur d’Alene in the title game on Tuesday. Gennett was 11 of 11 from the free throw line with seven makes in fourth quarter.

James Carlson led Lake City with 18 points.

Coeur d’Alene 55, Lewiston 37: Sam Matheson scored 14 points and the Vikings (12-9) defeated the visiting Bengals (9-12). Lewiston hosts Lake City on Tuesday in a loser-out game. Kyle Van Boeyen led Lewiston with 11 points.
