Home Helpers Inland Northwest has been awarded the Best of Home Care-Provider of Choice Award from Home Care Plus. The award recognizes top-ranking home care providers based on client satisfaction. Home Helpers Inland Northwest is based in Coeur d’Alene and offers in-home companion care.

Construction

The Inland Northwest Associated General Contractors of America has elected Dan Kuney president of its board of directors. Kuney, vice president of Max J. Kuney Co., has served on the board since 2011. Other new board members include First Vice President John Madden of Inland Asphalt Co., Second Vice President Hollis Barnett of Garco Construction and board member Rich Wells of Ginno Construction.

Community

Jesse Zumbro has joined the YMCA as the director of financial development. Zumbro comes to the YMCA from the Community Colleges of Spokane Foundation.

Education

Eastern Washington University has been recognized by the Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency with the 2018 Clean Air Award. The award is presented to an organization demonstrating innovation, leadership and a commitment to reducing air emissions.

Gonzaga University has announced the promotion of Charles Murphy to chief strategy officer. Murphy has worked at Gonzaga for 40 years, first as controller and then as vice president of finance. In his new role, Murphy will work with President Thayne McCulloh on the execution of institutional strategic initiatives. Joe Smith has been promoted to chief financial officer of the university. Smith, who was promoted from associate vice president for finance, will oversee accounting, record-keeping, budgets, procurement and other financial duties. Smith earned his bachelor’s degree from Gonzaga and began working for the University in 2010.

Gov. Jay Inslee has appointed Glenn Johnson to the Community College of Spokane Board of Trustees. Johnson, who is serving his fourth term as mayor of Pullman, is a professor emeritus at Washington State University and the public address announcer for WSU football and men’s basketball. Spokane Falls Community College recently moved its Pullman campus onto the WSU campus.

Health

Craig Bakker has been named the new director of the Providence Spokane Neuroscience Institute. Bakker most recently was the director of neuroscience and cardiovascular with the MultiCare Health System. He has 10 years of experience as a health care director.

Providence Health Care Foundation has elected Gordon Hester to its board of directors. Hester is the vice president and director of commercial management for Kiemle Hagood.

Law

Witherspoon Kelley has announced its hiring of Pamela Combo and Stanley Corbit as associate attorneys. Combo specializes in creditors rights and insolvency as well as business and corporate law and labor and employment law. Corbit practices civil litigation and business law. Witherspoon Kelley also has announced the promotion of three attorneys from associate to principal/shareholder. Matthew Mensik, who has been with the firm since 2012, practices litigation and labor and employment law. Amy Mensik specializes in labor and employment law and has been with Witherspoon Kelley since 2014. Daniel Gibbons practices creditors’ rights and insolvency law and banking and finance law. He has been with the firm since 2010.

Klündt | Hosmer has hired Cody Hanson as digital marketing strategist. Hanson is an Eastern Washington University graduate and has four years of experience managing digital marketing campaigns.

Utilities

Vera Water and Power has announced the addition of Diana Wilhite and Bryan St. Clair to its board of directors. Wilhite is a small business owner, has previously served on a public power board of directors and has leadership experience in civic, political and community organizations. St. Clair has worked in the water, sewer and power businesses for 35 years, beginning in construction and continuing with the Mukilteo Water and Sewer District, management of a hydroelectric dam facility and served as a public works director. Vera Water and Power is a publicly owned utility serving Spokane Valley.
