Top-seeded Gonzaga awaits winner of LMU-Portland in quarterfinals of WCC Tournament

Top-seeded Gonzaga (27-4, 17-1) will open the WCC Tournament against No. 8 Loyola Marymount or No. 9 Portland in the quarterfinals Saturday at 7 p.m. at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.

LMU (10-19, 5-13) and Portland (10-21, 4-14) clash Friday at 6. The Zags defeated the Lions 85-66 and 76-46 in the regular season. GU thumped the Pilots 103-57 and 95-79

No. 7 Santa Clara (11-19, 8-10) faces No. 10 Pepperdine (5-25, 2-16) on Friday with the winner advancing to meet No. 2 Saint Mary’s (27-4, 16-2) at 9 p.m. Saturday.

In other quarterfinal matchups Saturday, No. 3 BYU (22-9, 11-7) tangles with No. 6 San Diego (18-12, 9-9) at 1, followed by No. 4 San Francisco (17-14, 9-9) versus No. 5 Pacific (14-17, 9-9).

The semifinals are Monday with the championship game Tuesday at 6.
