GSL boys: Ferris narrowly holds off University

Shamrock Campbell scored 24 points and Ferris (11-1, 5-1) withstood a wild comeback to beat visiting University (5-7, 0-6) 77-74 in a Greater Spokane League matchup on Friday.

The Saxons, rated No. 4 in state 4A in the latest WIAA RPI, built a 20-point lead at intermission, only to see the entirety of it erased in the second half.

U-Hi led 70-69 on a Cameron Cavanaugh field goal just outside of 2 minutes to go, but Campbell converted a three-point play to give Ferris back the lead.

The Titans made it a one-point game late after a pair of Logan Phillips free throws, but Ferris’ Damion Carter made a bucket to restore a three-point lead. Carter ended with four points.

Michael Ervin scored 20 points for Ferris and Reece Van Lierop added 18 – on six 3-pointers.

Tanner Christensen and Logan Phillips paced University with 17 points apiece and Boston Tacke chipped in with 16.

Lewis and Clark 72, North Central 65: Jonny Love scored 23 points, Naje Smith had 21 and the visiting Tigers (6-5, 4-2) topped the Indians (8-5, 1-3). Griffin Effenberger and Bailey Rosenau added 16 points apiece for LC. Bryce Meadows led North Central with 15 points, Leon Sayers had 14 points and Isaiah Lockett added 10.

Mt. Spokane 66, Shadle Park 47: Tanner Brooks scored 18 points and the Wildcats (10-2, 4-1) handled the visiting Highlanders (5-6, 1-3). Tyson Degenhart scored 14 points and Jerry Twenge added 12 for Mt. Spokane. Jake Groves led Shadle Park with 12 points.

Rogers 69, Mead 55: Calyn Glover scored 20 points, Jahlil Frans added 18 and the visiting Pirates (6-6, 2-2) defeated the Panthers (3-9, 1-6). Tyson Rogalette scored 17 points and Isaiah Saldana chipped in 15 for Mead.
