Lookout hosts wife-carrying contest

RECREATION – Race across the snow with your wife on your back. Participants sprint 100 feet, over the snow, while carrying their wives in Lookout Pass Ski and Recreation Area’s annual event. The winning team will receive the wife’s weight in cash. Second place will receive half the wife’s weight in cash and third place will receive a quarter.

The odd-sounding (and looking) sport originated in Finland in the 1800s.

The event starts at 1 p.m.

The wife-carrying contest is part of Lookout’s Winter Carnival which includes a three-legged race, egg carrying and a snowman building contest. For more information: skilookout.com/events.
