Brady Brinkman scored 14 points, Tanner Christensen added 13 and University (8-9, 3-8) topped visiting Shadle Park (6-10, 2-7) 68-57 in Greater Spokane League play on Tuesday.

Jake Groves paced Shadle with 20 points – 18 in the first half – while Logan Liddicoat had 10.

U-Hi led 32-29 at intermission and used a 15-8 run in the third quarter to pull away from the Highlanders.

Shadle took its first lead of the game since 2-0 early in the third quarter at 33-32 on back-to-back buckets by Liddicoat and Luke Krotzer.

But U-Hi ran off eight straight points, and then Christensen took over. He made a layup off an offensive rebound and was fouled, hitting the free throw. He used his size to grab another offensive board and was fouled on the putback attempt and made both from the stripe.

By the end of the third quarter, the Titans had opened a 10-point lead.

Christensen made a couple of free throws at the start of the fourth quarter, and a 3-pointer by Logan Phillips a few moments later – his only bucket of the game – stretched the lead to 58-43 midway through the frame.

University led 20-15 lead after one quarter following Liddicoat’s jumper at the end of the first.

Groves heated up at the start of the second. He buried a 3-pointer, then followed up a miss with an offensive rebound and putback for another bucket. The next time down he hit an off-balance 3-pointer just before the possession clock expired, and his short jumper a few moments later brought the Highlanders within one point at 28-27.

U-Hi answered with Boston Tacke picking up a bucket at the other end and the Titans led by three at intermission.

Groves scored 18 points in the first half, while Tacke led U-Hi with eight points. Tacke finished with 12 points.
