Kakistocracy in vogue

Months ago The Atlantic (10/9/2017) had an article about the new administration in Washington, D.C. An archaic word was used to describe that new government: kakistocracy.

Kakistocracy came into usage in the 17th century and then fell into disuse. The word is derived from Greek and means a government formed by the most unscrupulous, corrupt and inept people available. Well, it’s back in vogue!

Since that article was written the situation is much worse. A day doesn’t go by where we don’t have another example of the depths of this administration’s and Congress’ dysfunctional morass. I used to think that it couldn’t get any worse but now I stand astounded wondering how bad it can get.

Our legislative branch is so broken the majority party in the House can’t agree on anything and they refuse to work with the minority party. The Senate majority has sunk so low that they would require a periscope to see the bottom. The House ignores the debacle on the southern border and holds hearings on Hillary Clinton’s emails!

We are stuck with a catastrophic, ever-deepening cesspool that can only lead to a constitutional crisis. The midterms can’t come soon enough!
