Man dies on Spokane River near Post Falls after falling from inner tube

Kootenai County Sheriff’s deputies say a man drowned in the Spokane River on Saturday afternoon near Post Falls.

Andy Philpot, 40, of Post Falls, reportedly fell from his inner tube in the area of Corbin Park at about 6 p.m. and did not come back up to the surface.

The sheriff’s dive team entered the water and located Philpot within minutes, deputies wrote in a news release. He was brought to the surface, where medical personnel attempted life-saving measures. He was transported to Kootenai Health where he was pronounced dead.
