De Leon Foods plans to open a restaurant and bar on Spokane’s South Hill.

The new spot marks the third De Leon’s Taco and Bar in Spokane.

De Leon Foods made the announcement on Facebook on Monday. The new location will be at 2718 E. 57th Ave. on the corner of South Regal Street.

The plan is to open Sept. 1, Sergio De Leon said in an email Tuesday.

The eatery will serve some of De Leon’s most popular tacos, burritos and stew meats for lunch and dinner. On weekends, menudo and pozole will also be available. De Leon’s own tortillas, tamales, and chips and salsa will also be available, according to the post.

The grand opening for the South Hill location, which encompasses just over 3,200 square feet, is slated for September.

Meantime, De Leon’s is still working on its second restaurant location near the Gonzaga University campus. De Leon’s “will announce an opening date once we get closer,” it wrote on Facebook.

But that Logan neighborhood taco bar was slated to open just north of GU in late summer or early fall at 1801 N. Hamilton St.

De Leon’s opened its first taco bar last year near the Whitworth University campus at 10208 N. Division St.

De Leon also owns and operates two grocery stores specializing in Mexican ingredients. It’s known for making its own tortillas – Sergio’s Tortillas, using Shepherd’s Grain – as well as tortilla chips, salsas, tamales and Mexican pastries. The stores are at 102 E. Francis Ave. in north Spokane and 15530 E. Sprague Ave. in Spokane Valley.
