Environmental awareness

Awareness: What is that really about and what is this consciousness supposed to partially accomplish?

Laws are being enacted banning plastic bags and straws to help the environment – oceans, lakes, the forest, and geographical areas in general - to become cleaner and less cluttered of such debris.

Yet, acts of preventing more rubble and tradition clash when it comes to human nature to really accept and fully comply on their part. What about the mindfulness – really un-mindfulness - of the custom of letting literally:

Hundred’s, maybe even thousands of balloons, released into the atmosphere and ending up somewhere in the aforementioned.

Again, hundred’s, maybe even thousands, of floating objects with candles released in, for example, the Spokane river – and, I’ll leave the reader to speculate where they may end up.

These two examples are more than likely, in the memory of a lost loved one or friend, even a group of people.

I’m not that naive to merely “believe” that what I say will make an iota of a difference on the impact of this issue, and more so, legislative initiatives will be suggested to halt these ritual … but, who knows!
