The Spokesman-Review’s Northwest Passages Book Club hosts an Aug. 8 evening showcasing “Summer Stories” with local authors including Alexis Smith, Stephanie Oakes, Kris Dinnison and Shawn Vestal.

Now in its fifth year, Summer Stories is the newspaper’s annual short fiction series. The 2018 theme is “The Road Trip” and feature stories from many of the region’s best writers.

This year Northwest Passages hosts its first Summer Stories event, an evening of words, wine and live music at The Spokesman-Review building, 999 W. Riverside Ave.

The Aug. 8 event is free and starts at 7 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Come early to enjoy summer tunes, snacks and a glass of wine at the adjacent Terra Blanca Wine Bar. Get tickets at Spokane7tickets.com.
