Waddell’s hosts ‘Triple D’ viewing party

Waddell’s is scheduled to appear on Guy Fieri’s new “Triple D Nation” in mid-August – and the popular bar and grill is throwing a viewing party to celebrate.

The brewpub is slated to be featured on the episode airing on Food Network at 9 p.m., Friday, Aug. 17.

The viewing party starts at 5 p.m.

Here’s the official episode description from public relations manager Julie Chudow:

“Guy Fieri’s kicking it old school as he pops into one of his favorite places from the very first season of DDD. Also, a lobster food truck’s looking a lot different in Minneapolis and an out-of-the-way rustic restaurant’s got some new dishes to inspire the DDD Nation. Plus, a place in Spokane had to move to bigger digs to keep up with their big dishes.”

“Triple D Nation” premiered July 13 and features Fieri returning to some of his all-time favorite spots from “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.” Chefs and restaurateurs share what’s new since they appeared on the show. Episodes take Fieri from Chicago to Denver, Seattle and more.

Fieri recently traveled through the Inland Northwest, revisiting some of the spots where he filmed eight years ago, including Capone’s in North Idaho and Waddell’s in Spokane and more.

Waddell’s is known for its beers, burgers and generous portions. During his 2010 visit, Fieri “demolished” – with an exclamation point, according to the pub’s website – its “Lamb-Strosity,” which features Alligator Stout-braised lamb, Cougar Gold cheese, mayo, a hoagie roll and au jus.

Fieri, 50, hosts several Food Network shows. He won the second season of “Food Network Star” in 2006 – and the prize of a six-episode show of his own: “Guy’s Big Bite.” He’s also since starred in “Guy’s Grocery Games,” “Guy’s Big Project,” “Guy’s Ranch Kitchen” and “Guy’s Family Road Trip” along with “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” and now “Triple D Nation.”

Waddell’s is at 4318 S. Regal St. in Spokane. The viewing party features specials on pub grub along with Waddell’s craft beers.
