Spokane Indians parent club selects RHP Cole Winn with 15th overall pick in MLB Draft

The Texas Rangers, parent club of the Spokane Indians, selected Cole Winn, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound right-handed pitcher from Orange Lutheran HS in California, with the 15th overall pick in the first round of the 2018 MLB Draft in Secaucus, New Jersey, on Monday.

Winn was Colorado High School pitcher of the year following his junior season and transferred to Orange Lutheran for his senior season. According to his MLB.com draft profile, he flashes three plus pitches and retains his velocity late into games and has a clean and easy delivery that should allow him to show consistent command.

Winn has committed to Texas Christian.

With the first selection in the MLB Draft, the Detroit Tigers selected RHP Casey Mize from Auburn.
