Sonic Drive-In debuted its new pickle juice slush drink Monday at 3,500 locations across the United States, including in Spokane, drawing shock and ire on the internet, while some critics have called it “surprisingly delicious.”

Food and Wine tested the drink at Sonic’s headquarters in March, and called it “surprisingly delicious,” adding that it makes a good accompaniment to burgers, tots or corn dogs.

“Sweet and tangy, the bright brine compensates for the over-savoriness you might have been worried about,” Food and Wine wrote.

People on Twitter weren’t so sure.

And others gave a not-so-pleasant review.

But some fell in love with the tangy beverage.

The jury is still out, so decide for yourself. The Spokane Sonic, located at 1313 N. Ruby St., confirmed Monday that they are serving the slushy “treat” – for a limited time.
