The dean of the University of Idaho’s College of Law, Mark Adams, announced he will resign from his position July 15, marking the fourth UI dean to leave his or her post this year.
Lynn Baird, dean of the University of Idaho Libraries; Andrew Kersten, dean of the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences; and Kurt Pregitzer, dean of the College of Natural Resources all announced they will be leaving the university this year.
While Adams and Kersten both opted to leave their positions, Kersten is the only dean leaving the UI. Kersten left to serve as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
Adams, who will be pursuing service and writing projects, plans to return to the UI teach two law courses during the 2019 spring semester.
After more than 40 years at the UI, Baird will retire June 30; Pregitzer is retiring as well.
While the university is considering an interim dean to fill Adams’ role, the other three dean positions have been tentatively filled.
Ben Hunter will serve as interim dean of the University of Idaho Libraries. Sean Quinlan is filling in the interim for Kersten, and Dennis Becker will serve as interim dean of the College of Natural Resources.
