A military disgrace

PFC Bowe Bergdahl deserted his until while serving in Afghanistan. While looking for him, Navy SEAL James Hatch shattered his right femur, Master Sgt. Mark Allen was shot in the head, leaving him unable to speak or walk, and Lt. Dan Andrews was killed as he saved six lives at the expense of his. He left his pregnant wife and a two-year-old son. During the time Bergdahl was picked up by the Taliban, he was promoted twice after being held in June 2009: specialist in June 2010 and sergeant in June 2011.

In 2014, President Obama traded Bergdahl for the five worst Talibans. This year, in Bergdahl’s trial, Judge Col. Jeffrey Nance demoted him from sergeant to private, forfeiture of pay of $1,000 a month for 10 months and a dishonorable discharge.

It is hard to believe that you can desert your unit, be promoted twice and be paid. Bergdahl has been paid as a sergeant since June 2011 and he caused soldiers in his unit injuries and a death. Their families have to overcome this, yet he received very little punishment for the problems he caused. This is not a good example for our military or country.
