White Pine Coffee Shoppe opens in Midtown Coeur d’Alene

Midtown Coeur d’Alene has a new coffee shop.

White Pine Coffee Shoppe opened in mid March next door to its sister business, Midtown Bluebird. Proprietors Viljo and Autumn Basso also own nearby Syringa Japanese Café and Sushi Bar. Viljo Basso is the executive chef as well as co-owner.

The couple grew up in Coeur d’Alene, then worked in the restaurant industry in Portland and Seattle for about 10 years before returning to CdA to open Syringa in 2006. They also used to own the Garnet Cafe next door to Syringa before selling it in 2013. They opened the Bluebird, which specializes in seasonal and eclectic Pacific Northwest fare, in 2016.

White Pine features light wood floors, 1950s tables and chairs, concert posters and Doma coffee. It’s open daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

White Pine is at 814 N. Fourth St. Call (208) 966-4131. On the web: www.midtownwhitepine.com. On Facebook www.facebook.com/whitepinecoffeeshoppe.
