Clarkston teen killed in two-vehicle collision

From staff reports

One man is dead and another is in jail after a two-vehicle collision Saturday morning in Lewiston.

Lewiston police said 19-year-old Hayden Garrett, of Clarkston, was driving through an intersection on state Highway 128 near the Hilary Motel when he was T-boned by a semi driven by Pompeyo Salazar-Cabrera, who officers said failed to stop at a stop sign.

Garrett, who was driving a Toyota Camry, was pronounced dead at the scene. Salazar-Cabrera, a California man who was driving for Swift Transportation, was booked into the Nez Perce County Jail on charges of vehicular manslaughter.
